Abstract
Stationary optical beams in the form of vector ring spatial solitons comprising of necklace-type components were discussed. A quasistable propagation at larger distances was observed due to stabilization of mutual attraction between the components unlike corresponding vortex solitons and scalar necklace beams. A symmetry-breaking instability alongwith an integral or fractional transformation of angular momentum was found in both scalar vortex and vector ring solitons.
