Abstract

Key Points
1. Enterobius vermicularis is a very common infection in children.
2. E. vermicularis may mimic signs and symptoms of appendicitis; it is commonly found in appendices but more often causes symptoms without causing acute inflammation.
3. Treatment of E. vermicularis includes worm eradication for the patient and his or her household contacts.
