Abstract
New and interesting distribution records are reported for 13 species of butterflies (Hesperilla picta (Leach), Hesperilla crypsargyra crypsargyra (Meyrick), Ocybadistes flavovittatus flavovittatus (Latreille), Telicota eurychlora Lower, Eurema herla (W.S. Macleay), E. alitha novaguineensis Shriôzu & Yata, Delias nigrina (Fabricius), Hypocysta irius (Fabricius), H. metirius Butler, H. pseudirius Butler, Ogyris amaryllis (Hewitson), O. abrota (Westwood), Cyprotides cyprotus lucidus Braby) from Australia. Notable range extensions (>100 km) are given for O. f. flavovittatus, E. a. novaguineensis, H. irius and H. pseudirius. Ocybadistes f. flavovittatus and H. metirius are recorded from Victoria for the first time; evidence from the historical literature indicate that both species have undergone recent southward range shifts by approximately 100 and 60 km, respectively, over the past two decades. Delias nigrina is confirmed as breeding in eastern Victoria.
