Abstract
The B′ 3πg←X3σg-(0 ,0) magnetic dipole transition of the oxygen molecule was observed. Wavelength-dependent photoabsorption cross sections were determined from the cell transmittances using the Beer-Lambert law. The transition was obtained in the form of weak B′ -X(0,0) band near 53 890 cm-1, underlying the electric dipole allowed Schumann-Runge band.
