New species of Neofuscelia and Xanthoparmelia (lichenized Ascomycotina: Parmeliaceae) from Zimbabwe

    Abstract

    The following new lichen species are described: Neofuscelia domboensis Elix & U. Becker, N. thorstenii Elix & U. Becker, Xanthoparmelia barthlottii Elix & U. Becker, X. hondensis Elix & U. Becker, X. hypothamnolica Elix & U. Becker, X. notatica Elix & U. Becker, X. subumbilicata Elix & U. Becker and X. zimbabwana Elix & U. Becker. The natural occurrence of the depsides, 2-O-methyl-3-α-hydroxybarbatic acid and 2-O-methylbaeomycesic acid, is reported for the first time.
