Abstract

Niki Kuautonga is a photographer and film-maker who lives in Port Vila. His documentary photographic work has been published by a range of media, including the Guardian. His work in Step Folem Step is a collection of photographs titled 'Wokbaot blong Ol Bubu Long Wan Niufala Fasin' (Ways of the old people made anew) created at the Vanuatu National Arts Festival on Malekula in 2019. The images explore the ways in which new materials, forms and stories have been integrated into kastom performances and costumes by communities around Vanuatu.
