    Abstract

We investigate nonlinear behavior of metamaterial element, where responses of a different nature are intrinsically coupled through its structure. We provide an experimental demonstration of the electromagnetically induced compression of the metamaterials elements, which leads to a remarkable shift of the resonance frequency. We believe that these results are useful for the future development of nonlinear and tunable metamaterials.
