Abstract

This essay presents theoretical notes to the understanding of regional integration in Latin America at the beginning of the 21st century. We take into account the paths taken by those countries, differently from what is predicted by the eurocentered theories of regional integration. We indicate two main behaviours towards the regional arrangements, performing coalitions, and then tending slowly towards a disintegration process.
