Abstract
The review and analysis of Hooper Brewster-Jones's 'Prelude to a new formula', a set of 6 preludes is discussed. Other relevant pieces of the same period are also highlighted as a significant early Australian foray into a world beyond tonality and pursued as aesthetic agenda.
