    Abstract

We utilize Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts to optimize the power allocation in a multiuser turbocoded CDMA system. We investigate two methods to obtain the optimal power levels: the first minimises the total power; the second minimises the area between the transfer curves of the interference canceller (IC) or turbo decoder. We show through simulation that the optimized power levels allow for successful decoding of heavily loaded systems.
