    Abstract

Oxazolines are ideal chiral auxiliaries to effect high-yielding diastereoselective transformations. These compounds activate the naphthalene π-system to nucleophilic addition. Potential applications include the total synthesis of (-)-podophyllotoxin and intramolecular cyclization of nucleophile onto an activated naphthalene.
