Abstract

The reaction of Vaska's complex [IrCl(CO)(PPh₃)₂] with seleninyl chloride (SeOCl₂) provided the complex [IrCl₂(SeOCl)(CO)(PPh₃)₂], photolysis of which led to extrusion of 'SeO' and formation of [IrCl₃(CO)(PPh₃)₂].
