    Abstract

It's possibly one of the most unique reasons to end up in court, getting riled over a TV ad that's poking fun at the Kiwi accent, but that's exactly what happened to New Zealand expatriate Max Barrett this week. He was so upset by a furniture ad featuring two animated kookaburras saying "Yeah, bro" and "Choice, bro" with New Zealand accents he showed up at the TV station that played the ad, abused the staff and assaulted an advertising executive. The story goes to show just how protective people are of their accents.
