Abstract

This article in The Conversation was commissioned to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludvig van Beethoven. In it, I discuss the role of the performer in Beethoven's piano music, providing examples from the composer's catalogue of works. I also provided one of the audio examples for the article (i.e., my own performance).
