Abstract
This entry is concerned with the concepts of a person and of personal identity and with various theories of persons and their identity. A paradox is unearthed: We have strong reasons for thinking that any (human) person is identical to a human being yet equally strong reasons deny this. Our concept of a person thus harbors a contradiction.
