    Abstract

Investigations were made on how EIT in a Λ scheme was affected by an additional electromagnetic field. The experimental measurements were for an inhomogeneously broadened transitions and for two of the three cases the inhomogeneous broadening was an important factor. The case where the extra field perturbs the shared level, the inhomogeneous broadening was not an issue and ineffect the spectrum was the same as for a homogeneously broadened system.
