Abstract

Reaction of [W{C(OLi)NiPr2}(CO)5] with X2PPh3 and PPh3 gives the aminomethylidyne complexes mer- [W(CNiPr2)X(CO)3(PPh3)] (X Cl, Br) in a convenient one-pot procedure from [W(CO)6]. The route appears to be general, providing ready access to a range of alkylidyne complexes including [W(C-naphthyl)Cl(CO)2(tmeda)], [W(C-thienyl)Cl(CO)2(tmeda)], [W(C-naphthyl)Cl(CO)3(PPh3)] [W(C-thienyl)Cl(CO)3(PPh3)] and [W(CNiPr2Cl(CO)2(2,2′-bipyridyl)].
