Abstract

Reaction of [W{C(OLi)NⁱPr₂}(CO)₅] with X₂PPh₃ and PPh₃ gives the aminomethylidyne complexes mer- [W(CNⁱPr₂)X(CO)₃(PPh₃)] (X Cl, Br) in a convenient one-pot procedure from [W(CO)₆]. The route appears to be general, providing ready access to a range of alkylidyne complexes including [W(C-naphthyl)Cl(CO)₂(tmeda)], [W(C-thienyl)Cl(CO)₂(tmeda)], [W(C-naphthyl)Cl(CO)₃(PPh₃)] [W(C-thienyl)Cl(CO)₃(PPh₃)] and [W(CNⁱPr₂Cl(CO)₂(2,2′-bipyridyl)].
