Abstract
The phosphinocarbyne complex [Mo(≡CPPh2)(CO)2{HB(pzMe 2)3}] is obtained by successive treatment of [Mo(≡CBr)(CO)2{HB(pzMe2)3}] with nBuLi and ClPPh2. An alternative approach to phosphorus-functionalized carbyne complexes involves the palladium-mediated reaction of[Mo(≡ CBr)(CO)2{HB(pzMe2)3}] with diethylphosphinic acid to provide [Mo{≡CP(O)(OEt)2}(CO) 2{HB(pzMe2)3}]. In contrast to aminomethylidynes, which typically display trigonal nitrogen centers, the phosphorus atom in [Mo(=CPPh2)(CO)2{HB(pzMe 2)3}] ispyramidalized.
