    Abstract

Photo Me Derby is a participatory digital media project that was run in Derby, Western Australia in 2005. Photo Me was a collaboration between Jalaris Aboriginal Corporation and Maya Haviland (Side by Side Community Project Consulting). Jasmine Francis and Maya Haviland coordinated the project. Over 5 months in mid 2005 Photo Me worked with Indigenous women and children in Derby, teaching them basic skills in digital photography. At the end of the project an exhibition of photographs made by local Indigenous people, called "Faces of the Kimberley" was held on Aboriginal land in Derby. Participants also made a photo-based newsletter called Djowalidj, which featured local events in visual form.
