    Abstract

We present experimental observations of the photoexcitation of 3lnl′ doubly-excited states of helium decaying by autoionization into the (2p) 2P excited ion final-state channel. By determining the angular distribution of the fluorescence from the final ion state, the alignment of the ion and hence the partial 2pks and 2pkd cross-sections are determined and compared to recent theoretical calculations.
