    Abstract

The effects of photonic band gaps on the photoluminescence (PL) of silicon nanocrystals (NC) were discussed. The properties of disordered regions of samples were compared with areas with high crystalline quality. Though the NCs were concentrated mainly in the first layer of silica spheres yet the influence of the stop band on the PL emission from NCs was relatively strong.
