    Abstract

In the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR), as in any other, we hope that government agencies, other organizations and communities learn from past events and from their policy and management experiences to become more knowledgeable and more capable in the future. This chapter addresses one aspect of this for DRR: policy learning, where we learn from experience with our policy and institutional responses to disasters to develop better settings in future.
