Abstract

Hyperfine transitions involving a simultaneous change of a Pr and Y nuclear spin are observed in Pr3+:Y2SiO5. These transitions are studied at low magnetic field using Raman heterodyne spin echo techniques. A Pr-Y magnetic dipole-dipole interaction strength of 7 G is measured.
