    Abstract

The papers in this volume originated at a conference jointly hosted by Curtin University's Department of Social Sciences and Security Studies and the Royal United Services Institute Western Australia [RUSI] to commemorate the centenary of the beginning of the 1914 -1918 war, which was held at the Australian Army museum in Fremantle on 25th July 2014. The conference produced a collection of papers engaging with the topic of mobilisation for the 1914 -18 war, and focusing on some aspects that are not commonly canvassed in studies of Australia's involvement on World war 1.
