    Abstract

Before, ladies used to do artefacts for the purnu [wood carving] man in Ayers Rock. And after that Thisbe (Purich) came over to BLackstone and she told us about the tjanpi [grass weaving] basket she was doing. One day she took us out bush and showed us picking that grass and then the tjanpi and then painting. It was the third number, painting canvas. It was a big thing for them, these three. Purnu, tjanpi and canvas, throughout the lands, in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
