Abstract
The quantum reflection of metastable helium 23S atom in hollow optical fibers was discussed. The retardation effects in the atom-surface potential were analyzed. The analysis showed that the retardation effects increased the reflection probability by an order of magnitude and lead to a significant yield of quantum reflected atoms.
