Abstract
Over the last 10 years global attention to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, and intersex (LGBTI) rights has increased dramatically. In the last year alone, the topic of LGBTI rights, alongside issues of women’s empowerment, have become increasingly embedded within many states’ foreign policy and international engagement strategy. The integration of gender and sexuality recognition within international affairs has not been smooth or easy, with frequent regression and resistance noted alongside (some) progress.
