Abstract
his article looks at RavidÄs in the GurÅ« Granth by first exploring the issues of who RavidÄs was and how his verses came to be recorded in the GurÅ« Granth and in other sources. It then looks at the content of his teachings in the GurÅ« Granth and the views of others in the GurÅ« Granth on the importance of RavidÄs and his teachings. Finally, it looks at how traditions about the life of RavidÄs grew over time in Punjab and the role that RavidÄs and his compositions in the GurÅ« Granth have come to play in the lives of his followers today.
