Abstract

A series of 20 cationic vinylidene complexes of ruthenium and osmium [M(CCRR')(L)(L')(-C₅H₅)]⁺ (R = Me, Ph, C₆H₄F-4, C₆F₅, (CH₂)₂C₂H; R'=Me, CH₂Ph, CH₂CH=CH₂, CH₂C≡CH, (CH₂)Br; L, L' = PPh₃, CNBU^t, dppm, dppe; not all combinations), [(Ru(CCRCH₂-)(PPh₃)₂(-C₅H₅))₂]²⁺ and [CH₂(CPhCRu(PPh₃)₂(-C₅H₅))₂]²⁺ have been obtained from reactions between the metal acetylide complexes and the appropriate organic halides.
