Abstract
This textile work was created for the exhibition MATERIAL FLOW, for the Wool & Water Festival at Museum in the Park, Stroud, England. Curator Patricia Brien invited artists to create works which connected the histories of Stroud woollen mills to the places in the colonies where the wool was produced. This work combines vintage Australian woollen blankets and a red woollen jacket, with plant dye, laser machine etching and darning to make visible the 18th century destruction of the indigenous staple Murrnong's connection with the flourishing colonial wool trade.
