Abstract
Dear members and friends of Learningguild, The two things I have set myself to do in my parts of this Letter may at first seem unrelated. One is to praise and to fault a book most of whose authors are medical doctors or in related fields, and the other to answer questions I introduced at the first of our Saturday Meetings in 2013 (February 2): Why should I go on learning if I dont have to? If I should, how can I best do so? (We call ourselves Learningguild, and say that membership is open to everyone who wants to go on learning and help others learn.)
