Abstract
I pressed my forehead against the window and gazed out at the sea and islands, now stained by a lengthening sun. The older I got the less I liked this scenery, and my feelings today were pretty close to hatred. Even so, each name came back to me as I sat there staring: Lucky Turtle, Pup, Snakehat, Furball. There were countless islands on the seaa sea so calm you might think it a lakeand I had named all of them. Most were uninhabited and didnt have real names. They didnt even show up on a map. But I picked pretty good names: that one did look like a turtle, the other a crouching dog
