Abstract

The reaction of [RuCl₂(PPh₃)₃] with K[HB(pz)₃] (pz = pyrazol-1-yl) affords [RuCl(PPh₃)₂{k³-HB(pz)₃}] [crystallographically characterized with monoclinic crystals of space group P2₁/a, Z = 8, in a unit cell of dimensions a = 19.75 (1) Å, b = 22.48 (1) Å, c = 20.283 (7) Å, and β = 112.94 (3)°], which upon treatment with NR₄[B₃H₈] (R = Me, Bu) provides the ruthenatetraborane [Ru(B₃H₈)(PPh₃){k³-HB(pz)₃}].
