    Abstract

After years of acquaintance and friendship between linguist Nick Evans and anthropologist Penny Johnson with the people of Bimadbn in Southern New Guinea, the Bimadbn people decided to re-enact a part of their initiation rite – the one that involves a story of origin of different people and languages.

This 24-minute film was made by two anthropologists/filmmakers, Darja Hoenigman and Penny Johnson, with linguist Nick Evans, in collaboration with the people of Bimadbn, who themselves directed the re-enactment of the myth.
