    Abstract

    There was no one agency responsible for saving the Christmas Island asylum-seekers THE West Australian Coroner's inquest into the deaths of asylum-seekers in the shipwreck of SIEV 221 off Christmas Island in December has heard testimony of the ferocity of the sea at the time. The navy officer who heads Border Protection Command, an agency within Customs, told the WA Coroner's inquiry on Tuesday that it was not BPC's responsibility to prevent disasters such as the Christmas Island boat crash
