    Abstract

We present a single-center model of double photoionization (DPI) of the H2 molecule which combines a multiconfiguration expansion of the molecular ground state with the convergent close-coupling description of the two-electron continuum. Because the single-center final-state wave function is only correct in the asymptotic region of large distances, the model cannot predict the magnitude of the DPI cross sections. However, we expect the model to account for the angular correlation in the two-electron continuum and to reproduce correctly the shape of the fully differential DPI cross sections. We test this assumption in kinematics of recent DPI experiments on the randomly oriented and fixed in space hydrogen molecule in the isotopic form of D2.
