Abstract

Concentrated solar energy has numerous potential applications besides electricity production as a source of high-temperature process heat. This chapter aims at providing an overview of applications other than electricity generation, with focus on H₂/CO production, material processing and chemical commodity production, and other thermal processes. Material, process, and reactor developments are discussed alongside advances in thermodynamics, kinetics, and thermal transport.
