Abstract
Anouk Ride is a resident in Honiara, Solomon Islands, and traveled to the Western Province to research this chapter. She has previously conducted interview research in Solomon Islands, Bougainville, and West Papua. Her works on peace and conflict, environmental conflicts, communication and indigenous cultures have been published in newspapers and magazines in Australia, UK, and the United States, and her most recent nonfiction book The Grand Experiment (Ride, 2007) has been nominated for an award
