Abstract
Molten proteins: Warming a freeze-dried powder of a stoichiometric ferritin-polymer ionic construct produces a solvent-free liquid protein that exhibits viscoelastic and thermotropic liquidcrystalline properties at 30 °C (see polarized-light micrograph), and transforms into a Newtonian fluid above 40 °C.
