Abstract
South Korea’s newly elected Lee Jae Myung administration is expected to move away from the former government’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, which had aimed to broaden Seoul’s strategic role and deepen cooperation with NATO and allies in the region. While existing South Korea–NATO ties, particularly in defence exports, are unlikely to be severed due to political and strategic risks, the historic level of cooperation under Yoon Suk Yeol is not expected to continue as Lee pursues a more pragmatic approach.
