Abstract

Excited states of 213Rn, up to spins of ∼ 55 2 h {combining short stroke overlay} and an excitation energy of ~ 6 MeV, have been studied using γ-ray and electron spectroscopy following the reactions 208Pb(9Be, 4n) and 204Hg(13C, 4n). Eight isomeric states were identified and g-factors for five of these measured by the TDPAD technique. Several of the isomeric states decay by enhanced E3 transitions. The level scheme and electromagnetic properties of the isomers are compared with the results of semiempirical shell-model calculations including calculations which explicitly account for the particle-octupole vibration coupling.
