    Abstract

The displacement measurement of a light beam below the standard quantum limit was demonstrated. The study was carried out using the continuous wave superposition of spatial modes. The multimode squeezed light was obtained by mixing a vacuum squeezed beam and a coherent beam that was spatially orthogonal. Results showed that position of such a light beam could be measured using a split detector with an increased precision compared to a classical beam.
