Abstract
Archaeological remains in the form of Hindu-Buddhist inscriptions are scattered in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province. In the framework of the research cooperation between BRIN and EFEO, in 2023 epigraphic vestiges were surveyed in the two regions, including some that are still in situ as well as those stored in museums and cultural preservation institutions. The results of that survey are presented in this report. The two main objectives of the research were the collection of data for the Online Inventory of Ancient Nusantara Epigraphy (idenk.net) and the creation of visual reproductions using photogrammetric methods. Also presented in this report are some new readings of inscriptions that have never been deciphered by scholars before or that deserve to be re-read, in every instance accompanied by translations into Indonesian. The results of the BRIN-EFEO team's research should enrich knowledge about several aspects of Javanese history from the 8th to the early 10th century, especially inscriptions issued during the reigns of King Lokapala (rakai Kayu Wangi) and King Balitung (rakai Watu Kura). This report is far from perfect, but it is hoped that it can give a contribution and new perspectives to research on Hindu-Buddhist inscriptions in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province.
