Abstract

The heterovalentgold(I)/gold(III)complex [(C₆F ₅)Au^I(μ-2-Ph₂PC₆H ₃-6-Me)Au^III(C₆F₅)(η ²-(6-MeC₆H₃-2-PPh₂)}] has been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. It shows square planar stereochemistry at Au^III incorporating a four-membered chelate ring and linear arrangement at Au^I. The compound is a rare example of a heterovalent complex containing an aryl ligand on each gold atom.
