In the final week of a federal election campaign, Australia will assume the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council - right at the time the Council needs to determine its response to the apparent use chemical weapons in Syria. There are options for the UN to consider, writes Donald Rothwell, but Australia faces challenges in helping to forge a consensus.
