    Abstract

    This chapter outlines the war which was fought between Australia and Japan in the Pacific and points out four main areas where the memories of war significantly differ in the two countries. These memories cover areas such as the Japanese invasion of Australia, Battle for Kokoda, treatment of Allied prisoners of war, and nature of the battles in New Guinea.
