Abstract
The reaction of [RuCl2(PPh3)3] with methimazole (Hmt) under basic conditions provides the simple bis(chelate) complex [Ru(κ2-S,N-mt)2(PPh3) 2], while the selenium analogue HmtSe provides an intact coordinated diorganotriselenane [Ru{κ3-Se,N,N′-Se(mt Se)2}Ch(PPh3)]. Bidentate mtSe coordination is however observed in the complexes [RuR(κ2-Se,N) (CO)-(PPh3)2] (R = H, CH=CHC6H 4Me-4).
