Abstract
The aim of the An-barra Archaeological Project is to document archaeoogical sites located around the mouth of An-gacha Wana ('Big River', Blyth River) in central coastal Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory (Figures 1 and 2). These sites are recent, dated to less than 1400 years BP. As a result of dramatic environmental changes on the coastal plains of northern Australia in the mid to late Holocene, the landscape itself is a recent artefact.
