    Abstract

Carefully compiled with the needs of the students aged between 10 and 16 in mind, the Australian Student's Colour Dictionary contains more than 15,000 dictionary headwords. This new fourth edition continues the strengths of the previous editions as an authoritative guide to English in Australia. It contains many updated entries for important people, places, and institutions, as well as revisions to existing entries to reflect the changing use of English in Australia and around the world. The dictionary also provides usage notes on confusing or difficult words, and a system of coloured headwords maximises ease of use for readers. A new series of Appendices provides a compact resource for students, listing countries of the world with their capital cities, units of currency and internet domain suffixes, Prime Ministers of Australia, weights, measures and units, and chemical elements with their atomic numbers and symbols as well as the periodic table of chemical elements.
